Execellence El Carmen Punta Cana All inclusive Resort Review

Paul D. Hannah, Senior Editor

The Excellence El Carmen Punta Cana is a luxury resort built for recharging and relaxation.

Lover’s Score 4.5 hearts

The El Carmen is a five-star resort with all the luxury touches you’d expect. Located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic settled right along the beach, and the resort is a true tropical getaway. The resort provides tranquil seclusion bordering on isolation. It’s an adults-only all-inclusive resort which means almost everything is included with your stay.

There are times when you just need to getaway from it all. The Excellence Punta Cana is certainly a worthy escape to paradise. Our room was an Excellence Club Junior suite ocean view. The room was 800 square feet large with a sexy balcony jacuzzi that got a lot of use. The balcony itself was large and had a long view of the ocean and beach.   The El Carmen offers 12 restaurants, 24-hour room service, and nightly entertainment.

The grand observation deck can be seen here.

The observation deck was by far my favorite part of the ship. It was also many other people’s favorite as the space was almost always fully packed out.

The evenings were filled with singers, pianist, musicians, and various island entertainers. The Micahel Jackson tribute was a grand show done in their outdoor theater. The performer was a great dancer and performer.   It wasn’t unusual to find a roaming saxophone player near the dining areas or a pianist in one of the bars. The one thing that you should note is that the entertainment pretty much shuts down at about ten at night, so if you are looking for nightlife, this is not the spot.

The beach was long and narrow and extended up to the resort where there was always ample sitting. This was a great touch, as most resorts never have enough beach front chairs.   The bartenders were skilled and pleasant, but if you are a drinker, we suggest ordering an extra shot to go along with your cocktails as the drinks were on the lighter side. While we were sitting on the beach one day, a beautiful horse appeared out of nowhere running through the water. WOW! It was a sight to see.   The swimming pool was massive and inviting. There were also well over one hundred rooms with private swimming pools.

The grounds were exceptional and were meticulously maintained. In every direction there was a place to sit, snuggle or take a romantic walk.

The Sum Up. The resort was beautiful and luxurious. The food was excellent and the staff attentive and personable. The gym was large and had more than enough to work off those all-inclusive calories. The nightlife was lacking, but the daily activities were plentiful.   We give the resort a lover’s score of 4.5 stars. Well worth a visit for lovers who enjoy the finer things and five-star accommodations.
